In fact, he inspired two people to write books about him, his work, and his philosophies, which then instigated a concert bringing people together from NJ and beyond. Proceeds from the books go back to BCHT, Inc.

Dec 2021 – Book Published: A RADICAL HEART – Making Black Lives Matter Through Faith in Action

My life changed when I became part of the BCHT program, which made it possible for a single mom [with] two young children to become a proud homeowner. Having a truly affordable home made such a difference.

This is the true story of a priest, a social activist, a man of God, and a living hero, Fr. Brian McCormick, and his Making of Martin House and Better Community Housing of Trenton, Inc.

As the inspiring leader of a Catholic Experimental Ministry called Martin House Community for Justice in the destitute areas of NJ’s capital city, Trenton, Father Brian McCormick instilled dignity and hope while providing real solutions to help urban dwellers. He and his supporters helped to make thousands of black lives matter in ways that gained tremendous community support over a forty-five year period.

At a critical time in the history of the Catholic Church…when the public view of the priesthood is associated with negativity, this true account of a “good priest with a brave radical approach to right living” is timely and needed. Read this uplifting story, and you may find your faith restored - in the Church, yourself, and people in general.

The young Fr. Brian McCormick came to New Jersey’s capital city, Trenton, at the end of the racial riots of the sixties and dedicated the rest of his life to the impoverished people of the city. His contributions went beyond the physical; he filled hearts with hope, spread God’s love through example, and greatly reduced racial prejudice, sometimes using unorthodox methods.

You Are the World: Creating Global Oneness

BCHT’s founder, Fr. Brian McCormick, tells us we are all one - that what each of us does affects everyone else. Thus, “You Are the World!”

Release of Fr. Brian’s New Book “You Are the World”

Sept 2023 – Book Published: YOU ARE THE WORLD

This book takes us on a journey following a remarkable man’s thought process in becoming a teacher and practitioner of how to live together as brothers and sisters on this planet – showing us how “we are the world.” In his work at the experimental ministry of Martin House in Trenton, NJ, Fr. Brian McCormick was tasked by the Trenton diocese to study and address racism and poverty. He forged his way forward, formulating and promoting soul-searching ideas about how society works and how it needs to be changed with regard to the poor.

Fr. McCormick sees human greed as the basis for poverty and many of society's ills. His ideas about greed and how it stems from a lack of recognition of the Oneness or the inter-relatedness of our world are controversial. He challenges the church to take a leading role in guiding the "world conscience" to address society's ills. The journey that formed the man take us on a thought-provoking path in this book. His meditations, highlighted at the end of the book, give us a sometimes startling, but direct, insight into his unique way of thinking and facing the world.

Oct 2023 – You Are the World Unity Concert

At this concert celebrating the book, soloists and choirs from around the Trenton area sang songs of unity, hope, and love. The audience joined in singing “We Are the World.” The concert supported two

Trenton charities that provide housing and food to the needy of Trenton: Better Community Housing of Trenton (BCHT) and Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK).

You may not agree with everything Fr. Brian says, but his ideas are both thought-provoking and challenging. I have worked with him in Trenton, and he has been single-minded in his vision of helping those trapped in poverty and challenging those financially well off to help those who are not. He has made this his life-long mission.
