“YOU ARE THE WORLD” Unity Concert

Where we united through music to celebrate creating an equitable world

BCHT’s founder, Fr. Brian McCormick, tells us we are all one - that what each of us does affects everyone else, or “You Are the World!”

Concert and release of Fr. Brian’s new book “You Are the World”

On October 8th 2023, we celebrated unity and hope at this concert, our audience joined the performers in singing songs such as “We Are the World,” and at the same time supported two Trenton charities* that provide housing and food to the needy of Trenton.

  • Better Community Housing of Trenton (BCHT) builds and rehabs houses for very low-income families to buy – currently helping redevelop a blighted block in Trenton with low-income housing.

  • Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) provides meals and wrap-around services to the needy of our area.

A Radical Heart - Making Black Lives Matter Through Faith in Action

My life changed when I became part of the BCHT program, which made it possible for a single mom [with] two young children to become a proud homeowner. Having a truly affordable home made such a difference.

This is the true story of a priest, a social activist, a man of God, and a living hero, Fr. Brian McCormick, and his Making of Martin House and Better Community Housing of Trenton, Inc.

As the inspiring leader of a Catholic Experimental Ministry called Martin House Community for Justice in the destitute areas of NJ’s capital city, Trenton, Father Brian McCormick instilled dignity and hope while providing real solutions to help urban dwellers. He and his supporters helped to make thousands of black lives matter in ways that gained tremendous community support over a forty-five year period.

At a critical time in the history of the Catholic Church…when the public view of the priesthood is associated with negativity, this true account of a “good priest with a brave radical approach to right living” is timely and needed. Read this uplifting story, and you may find your faith restored - in the Church, yourself, and people in general.

The young Fr. Brian McCormick came to New Jersey’s capital city, Trenton, at the end of the racial riots of the sixties and dedicated the rest of his life to the impoverished people of the city. His contributions went beyond the physical; he filled hearts with hope, spread God’s love through example, and greatly reduced racial prejudice, sometimes using unorthodox methods.
